Organic Waxing

Frequently Asked Questions

What is organic waxing?

Pinks Boutique created the first ever Soil Association Certified Organic Pre and Post Waxing Range. Never underestimate the damage caused to the skin by hair removal, it needs some serious soothing and moisture replacement. Pinks Boutique spa therapists are always trained to ‘double cool’ the skin - using the Rose flower water and after wax calm lotion.

AFTER WAX NASTY INGREDIENTS
All the brands who make waxing products from super cheap to super expensive, tend to use cheap pore clogging Paraffinum; a petroleum derivative base which in effect wraps your skin in cling-film, blocking the pores and causing white spots. More worryingly you have a petroleum based product with direct access through the hair follicles to your bloodstream. It's really worth thinking about the after wax lotion or oil your salon uses.

PINKS BOUTIQUE AFTER WAX CALMING LOTION
The Pinks Boutique, Soil Association Certified-Organic, After Wax Calming Lotion cannot have an ingredient list like the normal products that have a derivative of Petroleum in them. If another salon provides you with your waxing service I would suggest buying the 100ml handbag size Organic After Wax Calming Lotion and taking it with you, and ask your therapist to use that instead. Kirstie Sherriff, the co-founder of Pinks boutique has done this many times and she says that most therapists haven't seemed to be bothered, in fact most of them adore the aroma and fall in love with it!

PINKS BOUTIQUE FLOWER WATER
Another good alternative is a pure flower water such as the calming Rose Geranium Hydrating Flower Water, beautiful on cotton pads and chilled in a fridge. Great for taking down the erythema - the redness you get after waxing where the blood rushes to the surface to close the follicles. When you get home keep putting rose water pads on the area till it is soothed. I would use this as your toner for the first couple of days after a face wax, whilst the skin repairs itself.

What is Outback Organics Opal Vegan Wax?

Outback Organics (botanical, not certified organic) Opal Wax is a fast drying hypoallergenic, vegan friendly wax containing a blend of three indigenous Australian plums: Kakadu Plum, Illawarra Plum and Burdekin Plum for ultra-sensitive skins.

Its low melting point, pliability, ease of application and exceptional client comfort takes waxing to the next level with its incredible adhesive properties and virtually no skin pull. Furthermore it uses up to 60% less product than traditional hot wax making it economical and extremely easy to use.

Who is Andy Rouillard?

Andy Rouillard is the owner and manager of Axiom Bodyworks. Andy trained me in mens face, body and intimate waxing. He's been hailed as “Britain’s top male waxing specialist” by the Men’s Health grooming editor.

He is an award-winning therapist and qualified teacher, known for his no-nonsense approach to good grooming and  a regular contributor to the trade and consumer media, a beauty awards judge, brand ambassador and industry advisor. In particular, his skill with a wax strip has seen him travel extensively both in this country and abroad, speaking at industry events and demonstrating the art of ‘manscaping’ to therapists across mainland Europe, Russia and North America.

Is waxing hygeinic?

I take my waxing services incredibly seriously, and go above and beyond industry standards of hygiene and care. I'll never double dip, will always wear gloves, and should you have any questions before or after your service, I'll happily answer you. Read about 'double dipping' and salon waxing hygiene standards HERE on my Plant Based Beauty Blog.
